ABS - Airport Business Suite

In today’s digital era, fast and effective information management has become an ever-more important competitive factor. The greatest challenge of every business lies in the ability to respond to growing requirements for operational, financial and statistical information.

Airport authorities realize that efficiency and effectiveness of all members of the airport community can be accomplished as long as the different members/departments contained within an airport work in harmony. To fulfill this need, they must link and integrate their resources, people, equipment, facilities and information.

TAV IT ABS WHITE PAPER

TAV IT has recognized this need and developed the "TAV IT AIRPORT BUSINESS SUITE", (TAV IT ABS), which allows different members/departments of airport community to access, share and input the information across an airport's local or wide area network that modern airports require on a day to day basis.

One of the most important features of TAV IT ABS is that, it offers a flexible integration backbone for the airport which provides fast and easy systems integration throughout the airport subsystems, plus external peripheral systems. Another important feature is that it gives the opportunity of central management of multiple airports and terminals which resides on different cities and countries; lowering investment and operational costs, plus providing consolidated and centralized data. Additionally, TAV IT ABS’s fast, dynamic and powerful revenue generation processes and flexible ERP systems integration opportunities make it possible to convert airport business operations into a profit center easily.

In order to provide whole airport’s management and peripheral subsystems integration purposes, TAV IT ABS serves with two main elements:

• Airport Operational Database (AODB) which provides the efficiency of a central airport operational database with guaranteed consistent robust operational performance, stores, distributes, manages real time flight data, aeronautical and non-aeronautical services data, and transforms all these data to fast and accurate financial figures.

• Information Exchange (IX); the backbone of the TAV IT ABS, IX handles the integration of disparate systems by providing intelligent routing mechanisms, with high availability features, enables ABS to integrate with subsystems from all vendors.

AIRPORT OPERATIONAL DATABASE (AODB)

TAV IT Airport Operational Database is a resilient, comprehensive central repository center for airport operational data management of all airport community members. It provides the efficiency of a central airport operational database with guaranteed consistent robust operational performance, stores, distributes, manages real time flight data, aeronautical and non-aeronautical services data, and transforms all these data to fast and accurate financial figures.

TAV IT AODB is a multi-tiered application. The layers of this structure are loosely coupled and communications in between them are accomplished through well-defined messages. Interaction between the user interface and service layers that is designed by utilizing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is event-based.

TAV IT AODB user interface is designed as a RIA (Rich Internet Application) while keeping in mind the limits of existing web applications. As a result it takes advantage of cross browser and platform compatibility, besides taking the advantage of the web deployment model’s traditional benefits such as single-sign-on and secure data transfer.

TAV IT AODB is configurable depending on the operation and size of the airport. AODB is equally well suited either to fit small and medium-sized airports (from about 1 to 5 millions of passengers/year) or large airports (from 10 to 100 millions of passengers/year). According to the needs of customer, it can even be provided downsized or dedicated “cost effective” solutions can be tailored.

ABS IX FOR MULTIPLE AIRPORTS/TERMINALS INTEGRATION

For airport authorities running multiple numbers of airports and/or terminals, TAV IT ABS IX framework can be proposed with various possible topology models, which reduce investment and operational costs, plus provides consolidated and centralized data.

And now TAV IT makes ultimate airport integration possible by enabling the management of multiple airports from a central point and investment costs are dramatically decreased both in operations and hardware. Return on Investment (ROI) duration decreases to shorter than a year. This new solution has been implemented for 7 airports; with one central main airport and 6 satellite airports connected.
